Y-MED provides free or at-nominal-cost pre-natal, parenting and family relation classes and a licensed day-care to all eligible clients. To support the program's needs, Y-MED is constantly seeking help and financial donations for its programs. There are several ways you can help Y-MED. Y-MED is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
Monetary Gifts
As are all not-for-profit agencies, Y-MED is continually seeking funds, whether through grants, private donations, or fund-raising activities. Financial gifts may be given at any time and are tax-deductible. Some donors choose to contribute in honor of another person, in which case a card is sent to the honoree indicating that a donation has been made in his or her name.

"It was a life saver for me ... I'd never have been able to finish school without it ..."
Another form of financial assistance is support of Y-MED's various fund raisers. While these purchases are not tax-deductible, they do offer something in return. Some of these opportunities are listed below.
- bake sales
- the Holiday Gift Market
- Ethnic Expo booth
- flower and gift sales at various Cummins locations
- Elsbury's gift certificates in the spring
- Elder-Beerman Community Days
- garage sale booths
Donation Wish List
Y-MED also accepts many other types of donations, which can also be tax-deductible.

Volunteering
Y-MED has many opportunities for those who wish to offer services in place or in addition to financial support.
The nursery can always use volunteers to help care for and play with the infants and toddlers. A tuberculosis test, available through the Health Department, is required. Other nursery tasks are available for those who would like to help in different ways.
Additional need for volunteers occurs on an as-needed basis, such as making cookies and breads for bake sales, staffing the Holiday Gift Market, helping at Ethnic Expo, making craft projects for gift sales, arranging flowers and packaging cookies for Valentine's Day sales, and assisting with clerical tasks.
The Y-MED classes welcome guest speakers who can share their experiences or expertise on various topics. The Human Development and Child Development classes may benefit from first-hand reports from parents of children with birth defects, developmental delays, or childhood diseases and disorders. Past speakers in the Family Relations class have included women who have placed a child for adoption, recovering substance abusers, people with tobacco-related conditions, victims of domestic violence, successful women who were teen parents, to name only a few
